The self-confessed 'frog-faced 30something media tit' also happens to be one of the funniest writers around, and one of the only people in the world who merit a directionless Guardian column to fill with whatever comes into their head. Brooker rose from videogame journalist obscurity to write TvGoHome.com, one of the first sites to prove the internet was more than a repository for badly photoshopped pictures of kittens and eye-bleeding hardcore pornography. OK, so Nathan Barley didn't translate well into a TV programme, but the man's only human.
